Draft pending legal review. This page sets out how NXT Speaker works today. It is being reviewed by our legal advisers and may change. Questions? See our contact page.
This policy explains what personal information NXT Speaker collects when you browse, send a brief, create an account, book or are booked as a speaker, and what we do with it. Your rights under the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) are set out on our POPIA page.
1. What we collect
- Account details: your name, email address, role (organiser or speaker), and optionally a phone number and company.
- Briefs and bookings: event name, date, location, audience, budget and the messages you exchange on the platform.
- Speaker profiles: the biography, topics, languages, fee, photos, video link and requirements a speaker publishes.
- Payout details: a speaker’s bank account details, used only to pay them.
- Payments: Yoco processes card payments. We receive the payment status and amount, never your full card number.
- Usage: privacy-friendly, cookie-free page analytics (Vercel Analytics) that do not identify you.
2. Why we use it
- To run bookings you ask for: pass your brief to a speaker, take payment, pay the speaker.
- To keep the platform safe: prevent fraud, resolve disputes and keep records the law requires.
- To tell you about your bookings. We only send marketing email if you opt in, and every message has an unsubscribe link.
3. What is public
A speaker’s public profile shows their name, photo, headline, biography, topics, languages, city, fee and reviews. Speakers’ and organisers’ email addresses and phone numbers are never shown on public pages.
5. How long we keep it
We keep account and booking records for as long as your account is open and afterwards for as long as tax and financial record-keeping law requires.
6. Your rights
You can ask to see, correct or delete your personal information, or object to how it is used. How to make a request, and who our Information Officer is, is on the POPIA page.
