Terms of use

Last updated

Draft pending legal review. This page sets out how NXT Speaker works today. It is being reviewed by our legal advisers and may change. Questions? See our contact page.

These terms apply to everyone who uses NXT Speaker: organisers who book speakers, and speakers who are booked.

1. What NXT Speaker does

NXT Speaker is a marketplace. Speakers publish their profile and fee; organisers send briefs and booking requests; the speaker decides whether to accept. The agreement to speak is between the organiser and the speaker. NXT Speaker takes the payment, holds it and pays the speaker after the event.

2. Accounts

You must give accurate details and keep your login to yourself. You are responsible for what happens under your account. We may suspend accounts that break these terms.

3. Fees and payment

  • Organisers pay the speaker’s quoted fee. There is no booking fee for organisers.
  • NXT Speaker keeps a 15% platform fee from each booking; the speaker receives 85%.
  • Card payments are processed by Yoco and held by NXT Speaker until the event has been delivered.
  • The speaker’s share becomes due 7 days after the booking is marked complete and is paid by EFT.

4. Booking on the platform

A booking that starts on NXT Speaker must be paid through NXT Speaker. That is what makes the payment protection work for both sides.

5. Cancellations and refunds

Cancellations and refunds follow our refund policy.

6. Reviews

Only the organiser of a completed booking can review that speaker, once per booking. Reviews must be honest and must not contain personal contact details.

7. Liability

NXT Speaker is not the speaker’s agent or employer and is not responsible for the content of a talk.

8. Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of the Republic of South Africa.
