Your money is held until the talk is delivered
Paying someone you have never met is the hard part of booking a speaker. Here is how NXT Speaker makes it safe for both sides.
Your payment is held
You pay by card through Yoco, a South African payment provider. The money goes to NXT Speaker, not the speaker, and stays there until the event has been delivered.
Speakers are paid after delivery
The speaker’s 85% becomes due 7 days after the booking is marked complete. That window is when you can raise a problem.
Fees are published
Every listed speaker shows their fee in rand. Organisers pay that fee and nothing more; NXT Speaker’s 15% comes out of the speaker’s side, and speakers see the breakdown on every payment.
Who gets listed
A speaker appears in search only once their profile is complete: a photo, biography, topics, languages, location and a fee. Contact details are never shown publicly; you talk to speakers through the platform.
Records for every booking
Every booking has a reference number, and every payment, refund and payout is recorded against it, so there is always a paper trail.
Disputes
If something goes wrong, tell us before the payout date. We hold the payment while we hear from both sides.
Questions about payments
Do organisers pay a booking fee?
No. You pay the speaker's published fee and nothing on top. NXT Speaker's commission comes out of the speaker's side.
When does the speaker get my money?
You pay through the platform once the speaker accepts. The payment is held by NXT Speaker, processed by Yoco, and only paid out to the speaker after your event has been delivered.
What if a speaker cancels?
If a speaker cancels a paid booking, your payment is refunded. The full cancellation and refund rules are on our refunds page.
When am I paid?
Your share becomes due 7 days after the event is marked complete and is paid by EFT to the bank account on your profile.
Full rules: cancellations and refunds.
